In Erie over a two day fell half a meter of snow

The dream of a white Christmas became a nightmare for the Erie in the northeast United States, after there within 48 hours has dropped five feet of snow, forcing authorities to declare a state of emergency.

Locals publish in social networks photos of the impressive snow-shroud.

Meteorologists explain half meter layer of snow that fell at Christmas and up to 17 hours of the next day, 26 December, the icy winds blowing from the lake Erie – one of the Great lakes of America.

It is expected that the snow depth will increase by 2-5 centimeters per hour. Residents are urged not to travel unless necessary and to take to the road emergency kits, including tow ropes, flashlights, shovels and signal lights.

The Governor of Pennsylvania, Tom wolf stated that the national guard of the state “allocates military ATVs with high ground clearance to help local agencies in their efforts to provide emergency medical assistance and law enforcement”.
