António Guterres appointed rosemary DiCarlo, Deputy Secretary-General for political Affairs. She became the first woman to be appointed to this post.
From August 2015 DeCarlo was President of the National Committee on American foreign policy and a senior fellow at Yale University.
Prior to that, from 2010 to 2015, she worked as Deputy US Ambassador to the UN. During his career in the state Department, she also worked at the U.S. embassies in Moscow and Oslo.
