The head of research firm Fusion of GPS gave evidence to the Legal Committee of the Senate
According to the American media, the head of research firm Fusion GPS Glenn Simpson gave evidence to the Legal Committee of the U.S. Senate on the issue of the “Russian trace” in the election campaign of Donald trump. The hearing was held behind closed doors.
Attorney Simpson Josh Levi, who was present at the hearing, said that his client took part in them voluntarily and answered questions related to Russia’s intervention in the US presidential election in 2016.
According to media reports, the Simpson’s communication with the representatives of the Senate Committee was much more prolonged than similar speech-in-law of the President of trump – Jared Kushner – before Committee on intelligence of the Senate and house of representatives.
As reported, the firm Fusion of the GPS had previously involved a former British intelligence officer Christopher Steele, who prepared the dossier, which contained information on the relationship of trump and his entourage with Russia. According to the lawyer Josh Levi, Simpson maintained the confidentiality of clients of the firm in a speech on Capitol hill.
This dossier attracted public attention in January when it was revealed that FBI Director James Comey shortly before the inauguration of the trump had informed him that Russia was gathering against him compromising personal and financial nature.
“Fusion GPS is proud of the work she carried out and supported,” said levy in a statement. The Associated Press quoted him as saying that “the investigation against Simpson began as a desperate attempt of trump’s campaign and his allies to malign Fusion of GPS because of alleged links with the file trump”.
In July, the leaders of the Senate judiciary Committee have said that talks on bringing in for questioning the President’s son – Donald trump Jr., who in June 2016, met with Russian representatives reportedly offered the command of the Republican presidential candidate compromising information about the candidate-Democrat Hillary Clinton.
The US President Donald trump has repeatedly denied the existence of collusion between his campaign and the Russian side.
