If Jean (Lee Jae-yong), head of the Samsung Group and Vice-President of Samsung Electronics, was found guilty by the Council of judges on the Central district court of Seoul for bribery, embezzlement and perjury. 49-year-old Lee Jean, the son of the now crippled 75-year-old Chairman of Samsung Group Lee Kunhi (Lee Kun-hee) and heir presumptive to the whole Empire Samsung, was taken into custody in February 2017.
On the basis of the charges, spectaculator South Korea insisted on 12 years of imprisonment for Jeena.
“I never asked anybody, including the President, anything for the company or for themselves,” said Lee during the trial.
Bribes and embezzlement
Department of Prosecutor’s office of special Affairs has accused Lee and four other executives of Samsung in the payment of bribes in the amount of about 43 billion won ($36,42 million) to entities directly related to Choi sung-SIL (Choi Soon-sil), daughter of the leader of the sect “Church of Eternity” and the ally of the former South Korean President Park Geun-GI (Park Geun-hye).
