In Turkey authorities detained eight people who can be involved in the attack on a nightclub in Istanbul, which killed 39 people

Turkish police have detained eight persons on suspicion of involvement in the terrorist attack at a nightclub in a Central district of Istanbul, which took place on the night of 1 January, reports Daily Sabah, citing the interior Ministry.

Later this information was confirmed by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus, reports Reuters. He stressed that the police also found a fingerprint data and appearance of the organizer of an armed attack. According to Vice-Premier, state of emergency, which operates in the country after the military coup on the night of 16 July, “will last as long as necessary.”

The attack on a nightclub in the Central district of Istanbul, Ortakoy occurred on the night of 1 January. Armed with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, the man shot the security guard of the institution, and then burst into the room, where at that time there were more than 700 people and opened fire on the visitors. Victims of the attack were 39 people, among them 16 foreigners, including 28-year-old Russian woman Nurana Hasanova. Another 69 people were injured.

Responsibility for the attack claimed by ISIS militants. According to preliminary police data, the shooter could be a citizen of Kyrgyzstan or Uzbekistan, which is linked to the extremist group.
