The former Director of the FBI gave a television interview before the start of sales of his critical book about the activities of the current head of state
WASHINGTON – the Former Director of the FBI James Komi said that President Donald trump “in their moral qualities not suitable” for the job of President, and that there was “some evidence” that the President obstructed justice.
“There’s something important that should unite us, and that’s what our President should embody respect and adhere to the values that lie at the heart of our country – said Komi. – The most important of them is true. The current President is not capable of it.”
Komi made the announcement in an interview with ABC News that aired Sunday night, on the eve of the start of sales of books in Komi Republic in which he, in particular, writes about his role in investigations related to the Russian intervention in elections in 2016 and on the personal email server of Democrat Hillary Clinton. A former FBI Director also writes about private discussions with trump prior to his dismissal last year.
At one of these meetings, which Komi Republic told at a public hearing in Congress, trump allegedly spoke about the investigation into his national security adviser Michael Flynn and asked the FBI Director “to keep up with him.”
“This is obviously evidence of obstructing justice. In this case, I’m just a witness, not an investigator or Prosecutor, and it will depend on other factors, which reflected his intentions,” said Komi.
Trump insists that he did not ask Komi to stop the investigation against Flynn, who pleaded guilty that he lied to FBI investigators about his contacts with the Russian Ambassador in the United States. In one of the tweets the President called Komi a liar.
“The book of the Komi Republic, which was not well reviewed, it does not answer important questions – for example, how did it happen that he passed classified information to (prison), or why he lied to Congress (prison),” wrote trump, apparently having in mind that notes Komi about his private meetings with trump, which he later said publicly, was of a secret nature, which is false.
It is unclear what exactly was referring to trump, saying that Komi lied in his testimony to congressional committees.
In an interview with Komi told about another meeting with trump, when the President allegedly demanded that the FBI Director was devoted to him.
“I never asked Comey about personal loyalty, – said trump before the interview. I barely knew this man. Another one of his lies, which are many. His notes only serve his personal purposes and are fake!”
The dismissal of Komi trump led to the appointment of a special Prosecutor, Robert Mueller, who was entrusted with the investigation of Russian interference in the elections and the possible obstruction of justice on the part of trump. To date, Mueller has indicted 19 defendants including the former head of the electoral headquarters of the trump manufactu the Floor and members of staff Rick gates and George Papadopoulos.
Press Secretary of the White house Sarah Huckabee Sanders, said last week that the administration trump believes that the President has the authority to dismiss Muller. Komi said ABC that such a move would be “the most serious attack trump the rule of law.”
Komi Republic expressed confidence that if Mueller will allow you to continue working, he will “get to the truth”.
“Again, I don’t know what it will be. Maybe he will come to the conclusion that the President trump and his senior staff are innocent of any involvement. And that’s fine. Importantly, he had the opportunity to establish the truth,” said Komi.
Trump denies the collusion of its election headquarters with Russia.
The American intelligence community concluded that President Vladimir Putin has ordered the campaign to undermine confidence in the elections, to reduce the chances of Clinton winning and increase the probability of election trump.
Komi does not rule out that Russia has the dirt on trump.
“I think it’s possible. I don’t know. I never thought I would say this against the President of the United States, but it is possible,” said Komi.
Komi was in charge of the investigation related to the use of Clinton email while she was Secretary of state under former President Barack Obama, and in this regard has been criticized. In particular, it condemned the announcement of the resumption of the investigation made shortly before the elections. Clinton claimed that this decision was one of the reasons for its defeat in the fight for the White house.
Komi said ABC that he thought his decision was appropriate, noting that took into account the high chances of Clinton in election.
“I don’t remember if I told about it, but it had to be said. She could have been elected President, and if I would’ve hid this from the American people, it would be illegitimate since the election, since when it would know,” he said.
Trump expressed dissatisfaction with these comments via Twitter.
“Incredibly. James Komi said that take into consideration the polls in which the leader was a fraud, Hillary, when taking decisions on investigations related to email Clinton (how stupid). In other words, he made decisions based on the fact that he believed that she would win, and he needed a job. Bastard!” – wrote trump.
“Slippery, James Comey, the man who always ends badly (he’s stupid!) the worst FBI Director in history at the moment!”, trump wrote in another tweet.
The FBI Director is appointed to this position for 10 years – a period which includes several presidential terms. When Komi asked, would it work in this post if trump didn’t fire him, he said he would not be happy about it, but continued to lead the box and “tried to protect him.”
Comey has compared the presidency to trump a forest fire, saying it causes “enormous damage to our norms and values”. At the same time, he expressed optimism, because “grow and thrive in such things that there was no fire”.
