The US special envoy to Ukraine, spoke at the Atlantic Council
The year 2017 has become the bloodiest for the duration of the conflict in Eastern Ukraine, said Tuesday the special representative of the United States Ukraine Kurt Volker, speaking at Washington’s Atlantic Council.
According to Volcker, many believe that the conflict in 2014 – has become dormant and frozen,” due in particular to the Minsk agreements.
Expressing disagreement with this point of view, Kurt Volker stated that last night was one of the hottest in Eastern Ukraine after February of this year.
As recalled by the special representative of the United States Ukraine, “Russia continues to deny its role in the conflict and this is the reason for the conflict is difficult to resolve”.
In this case, “resolution of the conflict in the East of Ukraine means the world to people who left their homes, means the resumption of normal life, normal work of the government,” said Volker.
“This is an opportunity to restore economic activity, community and relationships between people – Russian, Ukrainians, Tatars and representatives of other nationalities, – the diplomat noted. It can be created only through the real world, and this can only happen after the withdrawal of Russian troops and commanders of armed groups that are there”.
