Severe frosts in Ukraine have forced the gas company to increase gas extraction from underground storage facilities by 64%, or 40 million cubic meters per day.
According to “Federal news Agency” with reference to the press service of “Ukrtransgaz”, January 8, the volume of gas in underground storage decreased to 11,459 billion cubic meters. During the day of the repositories was selected 86,34 million cubic meters of blue fuel.
It is noted that the actual amounts consumed per day of gas has doubled against the limits allotted by the head of “Naftogaz” Andrey KOBOLEV.
According to his calculations, the gas should not exceed 50 million cubic meters per day. In this case, the end of the season in the storage facilities must remain 8 billion cubic meters, which are necessary to ensure the operation of the transmission system.
Previously, the company “Naftogaz of Ukraine” reported about the gas reserves sufficient for successful completion of the heating season, which ends April 15, even if the frosts are abnormally strong.
Currently in underground storage remained 37% of the fuel. In this case, before the end of the month in the Northern and Central regions of Ukraine is expected from minus 20 to minus 30 degrees.
