It is anticipated that the Fund is receiving money from rich Russians, is actually lobbying against the Magnitsky act
The team of the special Prosecutor Robert Mueller is studying the activity of the Foundation whose stated purpose is the resumption of adoptions of Russian children by American families, reports Bloomberg News.
Fund Human Rights Accountability Global Initiative receives funding in the amount of 500 thousand dollars in donations, mainly from wealthy Russians associated with the Vice-President of Russian Railways Peter Nazivom.
The Fund positions itself as a non-profit organization whose goal is “to help renew the adoption of Russian orphans by American families.”
The Russian government has forbidden to give Russian children for adoption in the United States in 2012, in retaliation for the adoption of the law Magnitsky sanctions against Russian officials implicated in the death of the accountant Sergei Magnitsky, who died in prison in 2009.
However, according to Bloomberg, the Fund serves as a mechanism for lobbying against the Magnitsky act.
The representative of Rinat Akhmetshin last year met with the eldest son and son-in-law trump at the Trump Tower to discuss sanctions. The meeting was also attended by the Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.
Team Mueller is studying the activities of the Fund in the framework of the investigation on the case of Russian intervention in elections in 2016 and the possibility of collusion between the election headquarters trump and Moscow.
