Earlier in September, the Polish Embassy in Moscow has sent Russia a note, saying that Russian border guards do not allow the poles in the country through the border with Belarus.

Then the FSB of Russia said that the Russian-Belarusian border, there is no international border crossing points. “Today there are points of simplified border only for citizens of Russia and Belarus, so the Russian side could not impose any additional restrictions of the permit regime in this area of its border,” — said the source Agency “RIA Novosti”.

On 12 September Polish radio station RMF FM reportedthat Polish citizens and other foreigners who travel through the territory of Belarus and Russia in private cars was faced with the problem of crossing the border of Russia and Belarus. They are not allowed to enter Russia at the checkpoint Krasnaya Gorka and suggested to go through Latvia. The sides of the radio in the Polish foreign Ministry said that the checkpoint in Krasna Hirka has no international status, so there’s no border checkpoint to serve the citizens of third countries.

“Until now, the international movement took place along this path for more than 20 years, and the Russians do not interfere. Now, according to the Russian side, the situation needs to take control in connection with the terrorist threat and the crisis of migrants,” — stated in the material RMF FM.

In the Treaty on establishing the Union state of Russia and Belarus stated that “the external border of the Union state are the boundaries of the States parties with other States or the spatial limit of action of the state sovereignty of the States parties” (article 7).

The document notes that prior to the adoption of legal act on state border “protection of external borders of Union state is carried out in the order established by the States parties at the time of the signing of this Treaty.”
