The state Department spokesman called propaganda statements of Russia about the US involvement in the beginning of the Turkish operation against the Syrian Kurds
Commenting on the statements of the Russian side that the U.S. actually provoked Turkey’s military actions in Syria by supporting and arming the Syrian Kurds, U.S. state Department spokesman Heather Nauert said:
“Such statements not only do not help, it’s propaganda. I think they would like to drive a wedge between the two allies – the US and Turkey, but it’s not happening. They will not be able to achieve this. They may wish we both went out”.
Responding to a question about Congress of the Syrian national dialogue, which Russia, together with Turkey and with Iran planning to spend next week in Sochi, Heather Nauert said about the United States ‘ commitment to the Geneva peace process, which is held under the auspices of the UN and is the “gold standard” in the Syrian settlement. Neuert also reminded that Russia in due time has promised encouragement to the Geneva talks between representatives of the Syrian regime.
