Zuma Sputnik, launched by rocket, the Falcon 9, not out on the scheduled orbit, according to news reports
American reconnaissance satellite launched from Cape Canaveral by a rocket company SpaceX, did not come into orbit and, apparently, lost.
This was reported by two U.S. official, briefed on the results of the mission.
The secret reconnaissance satellite, built by Northrop Grumman, is not separated from the Falcon 9 rocket and probably collapsed or fell into the sea, said the officials, speaking on condition of anonymity.
Apparently, the satellite is “written off”, said one of the sources.
Of the alleged loss of the satellite was first reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The Northrop Grumman built satellite, code-named Zuma worth billions of dollars and chose to launch the Falcon 9 of SpaceX, said both sources.
According to them, there is an investigation, but so far there are no signs of sabotage or other interference.
