Moscow and Tehran will coordinate actions in the fight against terrorism

In the Kremlin, held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani. The heads of state agreed to intensify trade and to coordinate actions in the fight against terrorism. Following the meeting, Moscow and Tehran came to an agreement on visa-free travel to the countries of tourist groups, the supply of Russian locomotives in Iran, railway electrification in the North of the country and the development of oil fields by Russian companies.
Just between the two countries signed 16 agreements. In the presence of heads of States, heads of relevant departments and companies exchanged relevant documents.
— Our States are keen to strengthen the multifaceted and mutually beneficial relations, and targeted joint efforts to bring bilateral cooperation to a qualitatively new level of strategic partnership. Agreed with Mr Rouhani and continue to maintain between the two countries, intensive political dialogue, deepening Russian-Iranian cooperation in various fields, especially in the economy, — said Vladimir Putin after talks.
The trade turnover between the two countries, according to the Russian President, last year grew by more than 70%. The head of state stressed that this is a “really good result”, given that it failed in terms of “volatile global market conditions and continued volatility in commodity and currency markets”.
Industrial cooperation, said Vladimir Putin, will be expanded. So, under discussion now is a question of deliveries to Iran of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft and helicopters for sanitary aviation. It is also planned to increase the supply of products.
During the talks, the two leaders discussed the coordination of actions in the fight against terrorism and ways to resolve the Syrian crisis. Earlier, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif announced that Iran is ready to provide its air base to “jump” the Russian aviation, which performs tasks to destroy the terrorists in Syria.
— Russia and Iran are coordinating their activities in the elimination of LIH and “al-Nusra” (an organization banned in Russia. — “News”), contribute to the settlement of the situation in Syria. Largely thanks to our joint efforts, managed to establish a cessation of hostilities and to extend it to a significant part of the territory of Syria, said the Russian President. — Participation of Russia and Iran — along with Turkey — as the guarantor countries at the talks in Astana between representatives of the armed opposition and the Syrian government is an important contribution to the further promotion of peaceful political settlement in Syria, promoting the inter-Syrian negotiations and the relevant process under the auspices of the United Nations in Geneva.
Hassan Rouhani said that Syrian citizens should exercise their right to sovereignty.
— We discussed the establishment of closer and closer relations between the peoples of our region, among the regional countries expressed concern that exists in Syria and Yemen. The fight against terrorism, we will continue to the end of terrorist actions throughout the region, — said the Iranian leader.
Vladimir Putin and Hassan Rouhani agreed to meet more often in the bilateral format. So, until the end of the year it is planned to hold inter-regional Russian-Iranian forum in Astrakhan.
