The sanctions proposed by U.S. senators, can cause damage not only to the country’s relations with Russia, but also hurt the global economy. This was stated press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov in a briefing on Wednesday.
“Of course, this kind of restriction — they will deal additional damage, not only bilateral relations, but also, I think, even in terms of the global economy and global energy market. Of course, there may be certain negative consequences for our country,” he told reporters.
The representative of the Kremlin said that the Russian economy and the Russian energy sector over the last two years proved that “quite confidently stand on their feet”.
“Therefore, there is no doubt that the system itself, the sector of the economy — he will find appropriate compensation measures in order to minimize any possible damage from such actions, if it is implemented,” he said.

Before a group of democratic senators led by John McCain has introduced in Congress a bill, involving the introduction of new sanctions for investing in mineral extraction, pipelines and civil nuclear projects in Russia, and for the purchase and sale of sovereign debt of the Russian Federation and participation in the privatization in Russia.
