The head of the Duma Committee on defense Vladimir Shamanov in an interview to the program “Vesti on Saturday” explained why Russia has deployed Iskanders in the Kaliningrad region.

“These missiles are primarily aimed against those objects which upset the balance, equilibrium and which are supplied or will be in the foreseeable future under the so-called missile defense,” — said the Shamans (quotes by “Interfax”).

Russia has deployed “Iskander” in the Kaliningrad region in the beginning of October. As I explained then, the defense Ministry, the Russian military has repeatedly deployed these missile complexes in the Kaliningrad region and will do so in the future as part of combat training.

The deployment of Iskander in the Kaliningrad oblast recently commented, the Polish foreign Ministry. Warsaw has called the step “an inadequate response to NATO’s actions”.

In fact, NATO was not surprised the deployment of Iskander. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the transfer of the missile systems in the Kaliningrad region is a part of the behavior of Russia, “which has been quite a long time”.
