Experts from the University of Sydney have developed a new bone implant printed on 3D-printer for ceramics. Thanks to them, the bones grow faster but with time and the implants themselves are overgrown with bone.

Professor Hal Zreikat together with colleagues have long studied the problems of reconstruction of the limbs after injuries. As you know, serious fractures quite a long time to heal, and in the case of recovery of the full functionality of the limb is not guaranteed — the bones can knit properly. Exploring different materials, Hala Zreikat decided to use to build ceramic prosthesis and a 3D printer. First, implants are in this case always at hand, and to make them always fast and exactly how much you need.

Now with the help of ceramic implants, with the bone you can quickly restore broken limbs. A year ago, the percentage of successfully recovered limb was about 25 percent, but a year later, Hal Zreikat were able to achieve success in almost 90% of cases. Now, after the implantation of the implants, even the plaster will need to wear no more than a month.
