Why “daughter” of Apple was found guilty of inflating the price of iPhone

The Federal Antimonopoly service (FAS) published the reasoning of the decision in the case of coordination of prices for the iPhone produced by Apple Corporation. Earlier FAS found Russian “a daughter” Apple “Apple Rus” – a violator of the Law “On competition” in connection with the pricing of the iPhone for retailers.

Initially the defendants were the Corporation Apple and its foreign “daughters” – Apple Sales Ireland Apple Holding Apple Operations International. However, during the proceedings, the Commission FAS has come to the conclusion that pricing in Russia responsible “eppl Rus”.

In the case the stakeholders were the owners of the largest retail chains selling mobile phones: “Mobile TeleSystems” (MTS), MegaFon, VimpelCom, Euroset, Svyaznoy, Eldorado, Technosila, M. video, Mediamarkt, Ozon, UImart, re:Store, ION, DNS, Holodilnik.ru and “Citylink”.

As in Russia are imported the iPhone

Officially the iPhone in Russia began to be delivered in 2008, starting with the iPhone 3G. The first time the exclusive distributor of the iPhone in Russia were the three largest cellular operator, VimpelCom, MTS and MegaFon. In 2013 the situation changed: the only importer of the iPhone in Russia became Apple itself in the face of “Apple Rus”. The first models, which it had introduced became the iPhone 5c and 5s.

Russian “daughter” Apple ships the smartphones authorized distributors (wholesalers) and authorized Resellers (retailers). In turn, authorized distributors resell the smartphones to other distributors and Resellers. The largest distributors, as noted in the FAS, are “Dijous”, included in the group of companies “LANIT”, “Haskell”, part of the Merlion.

As has found out FAS, Apple has established in Russia the recommended price of iPhone,
watched their observance and punish the sellers who were trying to reduce prices
