The head of the Central Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina named the best head of the Central Bank in Europe in 2016, according to the British magazine the Banker.
The paper said Nabiullina’s ability to “maneuver” in a crisis, the devaluation of the ruble and problems in the banking sector of the country, reports RIA “Novosti”.
“But the strong hand of Chairman Elvira Nabiullina helped bring the country out of difficulties, and looks set to return to growth in 2017”, — writes the edition.
According to The Banker, in the beginning of 2016, inflation in Russia amounted to 12.9%, but due to the efforts of the head of the Central Bank the rate of price growth fell to 6% by the end of the year (Rosstat said about the level of 5.4%).
Banker also said that Nabiullina had taken the right steps to improve the health of the banking sector, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance has drafted a new pension reform in the country.
