The international coalition led by the United States, was not subjected to air strikes only the oil production facilities of the “Islamic state” (declared a terrorist organization and prohibited in Russia). Such statement was made today by the official representative of the Ministry of defense Igor Konashenkov.
“Wonderfully under the bombing of the U.S. and the coalition were not only already captured ISIS oil production facilities that allowed the militants to earn money on the illegal sale of oil tens of millions of dollars monthly and to recruit their help in their ranks of mercenaries from around the world,” he said (quoted by TASS).
He also commented on the statement of the head of the Central intelligence Agency (CIA) John Brennan that Russia used in Syria “scorched earth tactics”. According to Konashenkov, the international coalition since 2012 “methodically and consistently” destroyed the economic infrastructure of Syria to weaken the government.
Brennan in an interview with PBS television, said that the tactics of “scorched earth” resulted in the deaths of civilians in Syria. He also said that Russia “took all opposition terrorists”, which allowed to take “bold and, I think, reckless military action, which led to the deaths of so many Syrians”.
