Minister of transport Maxim Sokolov told “Izvestia” about the development of the Arctic transport system of Russia, the prospects of the Northern sea route and the construction of new nuclear icebreakers. The Minister mentioned the creation of a single protected information and telecommunication system of the transport complex in the Arctic.
According to Sokolov, the development of the Arctic zone today is one of the priority tasks of the government. Through the territory of the Arctic are sea, air and land transport routes, development of navigation-information support which gives additional impulses for the development of the resources of the Northern territories, said the head of Ministry of transport of the Russian Federation.
“In the Arctic zone of the aerodrome is 73, 12 of which are located on the coast of the Northern sea route: Murmansk, Arkhangelsk (Talagi), Amderm, Varandey, Naryan-Mar, Bovanenkovo, Sabetta, Dickson, Khatanga, chokurdakh, Tiksi, Pevek”, — he said.
The Minister also said that the development of railway infrastructure in the Arctic, a project of construction of a starting complex of Tommot–Yakutsk. The project will provide year-round uninterrupted delivery of cargo in remote areas of the far North.
