On the vegetable market in the Shiite district of Baghdad, there was an explosion of a car bomb, according to Reuters.

According to preliminary data, 12 people were killed, 50 more injured.

At the time of writing, none of the groups responsible for the explosion.

Earlier, on 2 January an explosion, a suicide bomber blew up a bomb in northeast Baghdad, killing at least 35 people. The explosion occurred at one of the busiest squares in the Madinat-es-Sadr, which is inhabited mainly by Shiites. Among the victims were three police officers. The number of wounded has exceeded 60 people.

According to police, the attack gave the suicide bomber who detonated an explosive device in the car. Responsibility for the incident was claimed by the militants of banned in Russia organization “Islamic state”.
