Previously Larry Nassar pleaded guilty of sexual harassment towards athletes
The former doctor of the American team in gymnastics Larry Nassar was sentenced to 175 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexual harassment against female athletes, including minors.
The judge in Michigan handed down the sentence Wednesday. In November Nassar pleaded guilty to 10 counts of attempted sex crime of the first degree.
At the moment he is already serving a 60 year prison sentence for child pornography.
Since 16 January in the court of the city of Lansing, Michigan, began hearings on sentencing, testified about 160 victims of Nassar.
Among them was Olympic champion Simon Bails, Gabby Douglas and Mackayla Maroni, who said that Nassar had committed harassment against them during medical examinations.
Many victims accused the American Association of gymnastics USA Gymnastics in ignoring and covering up complaints in an attempt to avoid negative media coverage.
Three high-ranking member of the organization’s Board on Monday, resigned under the pressure of criticism. In March, resigned President and Executive Director of the organization.
54-year-old Nassar was a doctor of the American team in four Olympics, and was a doctor of women’s teams of the University of Michigan and held the post of Professor in the College of osteopathic medicine in this University.
