Stern magazine portrayed President Donald trump with a Nazi salute
The design of the cover of the German magazine Stern with a picture of President Donald trump, wrapped in the American flag with a Nazi salute, has drawn sharp criticism from leading Jewish organizations in the United States.
The illustration was part of the main article under the title Sein Kampf (the struggle), by analogy with Adolf Hitler’s book Mein Kampf.
The Los Angeles-based Simon Wiesenthal Center stated that he “openly criticized President trump because he did not make any distinction between the Nazis and the ku-Klux-klinovcem at the demonstration and those who opposed them,” but “the image of the President as Hitler of our day in a major German newspaper is wrong and is beyond acceptable”.
“This cover is the culmination of the growing disturbing trends in the use of the swastika and other Nazi symbols against the elected President of the USA”, – said the leaders of the center.
“Authors in Germany should know that using Nazi symbols in this context, they downplay the crimes of the past”, they added.
