The library of Congress has announced that it has ceased to collect and preserve all publications in the social network Twitter she’s been doing it for 12 years.
It was caused by the actions of the administration of Twitter, which allowed users from publishing longer posts, photos and videos.
The library said that the collected tweets to preserve features of the beginning of the era of social media for future generations – now this task is done. Now, some tweets will be preserved in the archives of the library, however, after pre-selection.
The library of Congress is the largest library in the world. It holds more than 38 million books, 14 million photographs, and more than 3.6 million records.
