The majority of Russians — 72% — believe that their life is in 2016 have improved. 56% call a “good” situation in the country. These data led the all-Russia centre of studying of public opinion (VTSIOM) on the results of the analysis of the situation in December last year.
According to the survey, increased the number of Russians positively assess the current level of life. Such 72%. Unhappy — only 26% of compatriots. 41% are not satisfied with the situation in the country. This figure is lower than in 2015, then “unhappy” citizens had more — 51%.
Increased the number of those who believed that the hard times were such now 25% (19% in 2015). And, conversely, decreased the number of citizens who think that the difficulties ahead — 42% (52% in 2015). 24% of Russians believe that the hard times Russia is going through now.
The economic situation continues to worry people, but this concern has become “less emotional,” says head of the monitoring and electoral research VTSIOM Stepan Lvov.
Autumn and early winter showed that political stability, entrenched in the parliamentary elections, had a positive impact on social expectations. By the end of the year, the political factors outweighed the negative impact of the material factors that have dominated us throughout the year. But that’s not a reason for confidence in the fact that the beginning of 2017 will bring the country’s economy on “an upward curve”. The level of anxiety is still high: almost half of the population does not exclude that the hardest times are still ahead, says lions.
The survey data show that the peak of the crisis passed, the citizens record of political stability and sustainable development of the system, says political analyst Konstantin Kalachev.

Director of Agency of regional researches Rostislav Turovsky also tells about passed the peak of social pessimism. In society, according to the analyst, increased positive expectations for the full exit from the crisis.
— This is largely due to a high level of confidence in the President, but polls also show high trust in government and increased trust in Parliament, says Turovsky. — A great influence on the public mood continues to provide foreign policy of Russia — here the society began to experience less fear about conflicts with other countries and thereby gained more confidence in the correctness of the policy aimed at protection of national interests, including in hot spots.
