Among those killed in the explosion of the hotel “Intercontinental” – Afghans and citizens of other States
“The United States strongly condemns yesterday’s attack on the Intercontinental hotel in Kabul, the statement made by the head of Department Rex Tillerson. – We mourn for those killed in the attack, whether Afghans or citizens of other States. U.S. Secretary of state praised the courage of Afghan security services have become the way of the terrorists. He stressed that the United States is cooperating with Afghanistan in the investigation of the incident. The foreign Minister of the United States mentioned that the responsibility for the attack took on the Taliban. In this regard, Tillerson expressed strong condemnation of terrorist activities directed against Afghan citizens and foreigners working in the country.
As previously reported, the Afghan special forces ended the takeover of the Intercontinental hotel in Kabul, which lasted all night and resulted in the deaths of at least 16 people, including foreign nationals.
Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish confirmed the death of only five people, including foreigners, and wounding nine in the attack on the hotel, which began on Saturday evening.
Airline Kam Air announced that as a result of militant attacks killed 10 of its personnel, including five pilots. The fate of 14 employees is unknown.
It is reported that among victims – two citizens of Venezuela, and several citizens of Ukraine.
The siege lasted about 14 hours. During this time, all five attackers blew themselves up or were killed by Afghan security forces.
The representative of the Ministry of internal Affairs Nasrat Rahimi said the “Voice of America” that the last attacker blew himself up near noon on Sunday, a result which caught fire on the sixth floor of the hotel where he was hiding.
