The US law “On combating the enemies of America through sanctions” has not allowed Russia to sell weapons
The US state Department said that the law signed by the President of the United States Donald trump in August 2017 (“On countering the enemies of America with the help of sanctions” – CAATSA) has not allowed Russia to sell weapons worth billions of dollars, although the sanctions have not been announced for Russia’s intervention in the presidential election in 2016.
“Today we informed Congress that this law and its implementation hamper the sale of products of the Russian defense industry”, – said the press-Secretary of the U.S. Department of state Heather Nauert. “Since the law came into force, we believe foreign government abandoned the planned or previously announced purchases worth several billion dollars of products of the Russian defense industry”.
Heather Nauert also said that “when and if we impose sanctions, then this will be announced”. She also added that in the case of sanctions, they will relate to non-Russian organizations that are responsible for core financial transaction with the intelligence services of Russia and military enterprises.
