This element of the annual joint exercises appeared in their program for the first time
The United States and Jordan have launched a joint 12-day military exercise, which will be practiced a variety of scenarios – from border security to combat terrorism, and for the first time, conventional chemical incident.
Exercises “Busy lion” began on Sunday, a day after the United States, France and Britain launched missile strikes on Syrian military targets in response to the alleged chemical attack in the outskirts of Damascus a week ago.
Major-General John Mott, Director of exercises and training in the Central command of the armed forces of the United States, told reporters that the group of employees of the mobile laboratories will work out their actions in response to a simulated chemical incident.
According to him, “the threat is all too real, as we have seen recently in Syria.”
The annual exercise involved more than 7 thousand military men, including 3,500 American military. It is the largest and most complex exercises involving the United States in the region.
