Tough new measures introduced, in particular, because of the persecution of sexual minorities in Chechnya

The U.S. Treasury on Wednesday announced a new extension of the so-called “Magnitsky List”, including the sanctions list, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov. Sanctions are also imposed against the chief of one of ROVD of Chechnya Ayub Katayev, lawyers Andrei Pavlov and Yulia Maiorova and businessman Oleksiy Sheshenya.

In an official statement, rasprostranena the Ministry of Finance, stresses that the expansion of the lists agreed with the U.S. state Department. All the defendants in the list will be denied entry into the United States, and their assets will be arrested.

Head of the police Department of the city of Argun Ayub Katayev, according to the U.S. Treasury, in addition to participating in the murder and torture were involved in the persecution of sexual minorities in Chechnya, which first reported the “Novaya Gazeta”.

Businessman Alexei Chechenya who owned shares of the company “Grand Active”, and the lawyer Andrey Pavlov, according to the U.S. Treasury, was directly involved in the implementation of the scheme of plunder from the Russian budget of 5.4 billion rubles (at the exchange rate at that period, about 230 million dollars).

The auditor of the company Hermitage Capital Sergei Magnitsky, who discovered the criminal scheme, was arrested in November 2009, died in a detention center in Moscow.
