The United States sent a second destroyer in the Black sea

Pentagon officials say the US is trying “to reduce the susceptibility” of Russia to the American military presence in the region

U.S. Navy increasing their presence in the Black sea as part of efforts to counter the increased presence of Russia in this area, said the representative of the American military.

Russia strengthens its forces in the region after the seizure of the Ukrainian Crimea in 2014, which disagreed the vast majority of the international community.

On Saturday, the missile destroyer “Kearney” joined the destroyer “Ross” in Black sea to “conduct security operations at sea,” reads the statement of the 6th fleet of the US Navy, which is responsible for naval operations in the region.

A Pentagon spokesman told CNN that the decision to send in the Black sea destroyers “Carney” and “Ross” was part of an effort “to reduce the susceptibility of Russia” the presence of American armed forces in the Black sea, located between Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Western Asia.

Two U.S. military official based in Europe told CNN that Moscow is particularly sensitive to military operations of the USA in the Black sea, given its recent steps of militarization of the Crimea.

The U.S. and NATO in recent years has accused Moscow of placement in the Crimea a large military contingent and a large number of military equipment.
