The United States officially supported the initiative of the authorities of Panama, who announced the intention to publicize and block illegal financial transactions of the government of Nicolas Madura.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the press Secretary of the White house Sarah Sanders urged “the international community to follow the example of Panama and unite against a corrupt and illegal regime of Maduro”.
The US state Department also issued a statement in support of the decision taken by the authorities of Panama on March 27, the introduction of “hard financial measures against 55 citizens of Venezuela and 15 Venezuelan companies.”
In turn, the Venezuelan government this week responded Panama, announcing the suspension of business relationships with Panamanian officials and companies, including the local airline Copa, putting forward counter-allegations of money laundering.
