The Secretary of state Tillerson made a statement on the occasion of the International day of human rights
The United States urged all countries to comply with commitments enshrined in the universal Declaration of human rights, adopted 10 December 1948.
In a statement to mark International human rights day, U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson reminded that human rights “are the Foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world”.
“For those who became involved in domestic violence or have moved because of them, who are struggling with repressive governments or who are exploited for the benefit of others, the universal Declaration of human rights is a beacon of hope, – reads the statement of the Secretary of state. – Support human rights and democracy is a foreign policy priority, reflecting the best traditions of our country.”
“In commemoration of the International human rights day we reaffirm our commitment to our core democratic values and the protection of human rights, freedom and dignity of all people,” he said.
“The United States calls on all countries to respect the commitments enshrined in the universal Declaration of human rights and apply them equally to all. The world is safer when each person can fully realize their potential, and each country is freed from tyranny” – the document says.
