In the “black list” again came the government of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan
The US state Department has published a list of States in which, in the opinion of the us diplomatic corps, “..systematically violated the religious freedom” of citizens.
“In too many countries around the world citizens are subjected to harassment, extrajudicial penalties and imprisonment because they exercise their right to freedom of religion,” – said in a statement, state Department spokesman Heather Nauert published on Thursday.
In the diplomatic Ministry recalled that in accordance with the Law on international religious freedom, adopted in 1998, the Secretary of state shall annually approve a list of States involved in “flagrant narusheniyam religious freedoms.”
This year the list were again included Burma (Myanmar), China, Eritrea, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The number of countries “of concern and in need of constant observation” added the Pakistan government, according to Washington, involved in “gross violations of religious freedoms.”
“We note that some of the included in the list of countries working to improve the situation in the field of freedom of religion, the statement says Heather Nauert. We welcome these efforts and are ready to continue (bilateral) dialogue.”
