The Prime Minister of Turkey Binali yıldırım has warned that the United States should not risk a strategic Alliance with Ankara for the sake of “terrorists”
The Turkish authorities expect that the administration of new US President (Donald trump takes office on 20 January 2017. — RBC) to stop supplying weapons to the fighters of the Syrian Kurds “Detachments of national defense” (YPG), which in Turkey is referred to terrorist groups, said Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.
The head of the Turkish government placed the responsibility for the supply of weapons to terrorists on the administration of current President Barack Obama, reports Reuters.
“The United States should not allow the strategic partnership [with Turkey] were pushed into the background as a terrorist organization,” warned Yildirim, speaking on Tuesday in the Turkish Parliament.
The Prime Minister also stated the need to discuss in Parliament the question of extending for another three months of the validity period of emergency imposed in Turkey after the failure of the coup in July 2016.
At the end of December 2016, the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated about the presence of the Turkish authorities evidence of the involvement of the antiterrorist coalition headed by the United States to support Kurdish groups YPG and the Democratic Union (PYD), as well as the organization “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia).
“They support the terrorists, including ISIS, YPG and PYD. We have that clear. We have proof, including photos and videos,” — said Erdogan, speaking at a press conference in Ankara.
The US state Department called Erdogan’s accusation was”ridiculous”. According to state Department spokesman Mark Toner, reason for such charges was not.
