Andrew Driver has previously worked in diplomatic posts in Austria, Russia and other countries
The US state Department announced the appointment of Andrew Driver next co-chair of the OSCE Minsk group on Nagorno-Karabakh from the United States.
Until recently, he was the chargé d’affaires of U.S. mission to international organizations in Vienna.
He also worked at the U.S. embassies in Kuwait, Bahrain and Russia.
“The United States remains firmly committed to the Minsk group process and we intend to help the parties to reach a lasting peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,” said state Department spokesman Heather Nauert.
She added that the US “will support only such a settlement of the conflict based on international law, including the Helsinki final act and in particular the principles of non-use of force, territorial integrity and self-determination”.
The driver will assume his new duties immediately, said the state Department.
