The official U.S. state Department spokesman Heather Nauert on Saturday called for an end to violence on the border between Israel and the Gaza strip, saying that collisions will prevent the implementation of the peace plan.

“We are deeply saddened by the fact that in Gaza today there were human sacrifices, wrote Neuert in his Twitter. – We urge all who are involved (in the conflict), to take steps to reduce the stress. The international community is developing measures that will improve the lives of Palestinians, and is working on a peace plan. Violence will not help achieve these goals.”

Earlier on Saturday, the UN and the European Union demanded an “independent and transparent” investigation into the events on the Gaza border. The day before in clashes between demonstrators and Israeli forces who attempted to stop the riots killed 16 people. The Palestinian side has said that the injured, including gunshot, received more than a thousand residents of Gaza.

The Israeli authorities claim that the speech was organized by Hamas, stressing that the military had used their weapons only in self-defense.

Palestinian officials, said Radio Liberty, said earlier that they intend to continue the protests until at least may 14, when it is expected that the United States will open its Embassy in Jerusalem. The decision to move the Embassy from tel Aviv to Jerusalem was passed last year, the President of the United States Donald trump, it was sharply criticized for it by both the Palestinians and the European Union.
