Donald trump has signed an Executive order prohibiting financial transactions with the state securities Venezuela
The US President Donald trump has signed a decree prohibiting to carry out operations with new debt and securities issued by the government of Venezuela. This step was taken to put pressure on the repressive government of President Nicolas Maduro.
The decree trump prohibits financial transactions with the government of Maduro and the state oil company PDVSA.
US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley said: “We are not going to put up with the dictatorship that he’s trying to create, and we do not intend to respect his shameful Assembly”. Haley implies Maduro organized a Constitutional Assembly appropriated legislative authority – to bypass Parliament, which is controlled by the opposition.
The Minister of foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza called the sanctions “the worst act of aggression against Venezuela over the past 200 years.” He also suggested that the United States intends to press for a start in the country the humanitarian crisis and to starve the Venezuelan people to death.
The white house explained that the goal of his actions – the restoration of democracy in Venezuela. For this, Maduro needs to hold fair and free elections and to release all political prisoners.
