WASHINGTON – the White house released details of a “framework for compromise” on the issue of immigration, which lawmakers can approve or reject.

For the 1.8 million young immigrants brought to United States in childhood, the so – called “dreamers” – are invited to create a long path to citizenship with certain conditions.

Those who could legally stay in the country under the Program deferred action for immigrant children (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, DACA), and other immigrants who meet the same criteria, will be able to obtain citizenship for 10-12 years, subject to conditions in education, employment and moral character.

Its proposals on immigration and border security the administration has presented unexpectedly, four days ahead of schedule.

Another element of the plan, which will inevitably cause heated debate – the cost of implementation one of the key campaign promises of the President: for the construction of a wall on the border with Mexico are encouraged to create a “trust Fund” in the amount of $ 25 billion, though these funds will also be used for other checkpoints across the border and strengthening the Northern border with Canada.

The administration also proposes to terminate the so-called “chain migration” when immigrants bring to the country relatives, which can later become Trustees for the next of kin. In accordance with the plan, to legal residence in the country will be able to qualify only those who live in the US minor children or a spouse.

The administration also calls for ending the visa lottery for some countries.
