Reductions can also apply to seasonal workers
The administration of the President of the United States Donald trump is considering to reduce the number of visas issued in the program of cultural and professional exchange, including foreign governesses and seasonal workers. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal.
Trump, in the past, the construction magnate whose hotels and resorts actively use the services of seasonal workers during the election campaign promised to bring back jobs to Americans.
According to the Wall Street Journal, citing anonymous sources, the administration is considering “massive reductions” in five types of visas under the program the J-1 cultural exchange associated with employment.
This program also includes visas for students, however, according to the WSJ, the reduction in the number of student visas is not planned.
According to statistics from the state Department, the program J-1 includes 15 categories and provides “approximately 300 000 foreign nationals per year the opportunity for personal experience to become acquainted with American society and culture.”
